This training program is based on international guidelines and benchmarks from around the world and is approved by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA). This is a unique opportunity to study with Shekhar Annambhotla, founder of Ojas, LLC and AAPNA, Inc. and Dr. Vijay Jain, MD, Medical Director and Integrative Medicine Specialist at Amrit Ayurveda for Total Wellbeing.

About the Program:
A Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (CAP) is a professional with additional training in pathology and disease management beyond that of the Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant (CALC) and is qualified to practice preventive health care and health promotion using nutrition, lifestyle management, and herbal dietary supplements.

The training consists of 1000 hours (500 to be a Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant and 500 additional hours to be a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner).

This program will provide 100 hours of classroom training in the USA; 120 hours of classroom training in India; 40 hours of webinar instruction; 90 hours of education at 3 ayurveda conferences; and 150 hours of home study, quizzes, assignments, and projects, complying with the requirements of the Ayurvedic Practitioner Certificate Course as outlined by International University of Yoga and Ayurveda (IUYA) and Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America, Inc. (AAPNA)


Prerequisites: To ensure understanding of the fundamental principles of ayurveda, completion of certification in Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant Program or a strong background in fundamental ayurvedic training from any ayurvedic institution is required.

Dr. Vijay Jain

Vijay Jain, M.D. Florida, USA brings more than 30 years of experience in General Surgery and 10 years of focused study of integrative medicine to his engaging integration of traditional/Western medicine with ancient medicine and well-tried systems of healing from different cultures. He has studied mind/body medicine with Dr. Deepak Chopra, MD; yoga therapy from Vivekananda Research Center in Bangalore, India; courses in Ayurveda medicine with Dr. Sunil Joshi in Nagpur, India; and courses in Integrative Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil in Tucson, AZ.  In addition to his surgery practice, Dr. Jain lectures on Ayurveda principles and practices and how to create optimal health. Recently, he has become interested in the science of graceful aging as it relates to holistic practices. At present, Dr. Jain is the Medical Director of Mind Body Wellness Center and conducts all Panchakarma programs at Flaglar Beach, Florida. He is a founding director of International University of Yoga and Ayurveda. Dr. Jain is also Board member of Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America, Inc. (AAPNA).

Dr. Shekhar Annambhotla

Shekhar Annambhotla, BAMS, MDAYURVED, LMT, Pennsylvania, USA is a classically trained Master Ayurvedic Specialist (Vaidya), licensed integrative bodywork and massage therapist, registered yoga instructor and certified Pranic healer who has been practicing and teaching Ayurveda worldwide since 1988. His passion and love for Ayurveda fuels his vision for the development and growth of Ayurveda, including creating and implementing high quality education and training programs in the West. It is Shekhar’s mission to bring Ayurveda to the forefront of healing arts. Shekhar began his eight-year course of study in Ayurveda, first at Nagarjuna University in Andhra Pradesh, India (1982-88) and then at Gujarat Ayurveda University in Gujarat, India (1988-91), where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Ayurveda. He is also a Licensed Integrative Bodywork and Massage Therapist (LMT) and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E.R.Y.T.-500) with the Yoga Alliance and an instructor of therapeutic Hatha Yoga, having completed training at the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Center in India. Shekhar is also a certified Pranic Healer, a certified Reiki Healer and a certification in Energy Medicine. From 1992 – 1994, Dr. Shekhar worked as an Associate Professor at N.K.J. Ayurvedic College (Gulburga University), Bidar, Karnataka State, India. From 1994 – 2001, Shekhar has the opportunity to serve at Maharishi Vedic Schools and Universities in The Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Trinidad, Guadeloupe, Jamaica (Caribbean Island), Colombia (South America), Canada, and the U.S.A. During his extensive travels, he delivered lectures and offered consultations on Ayurveda for health professionals and for the general public. He gave several newspaper interviews and radio talks on Ayurveda and was also interviewed on BBC’s Breakfast Television. Since 2002,  Dr. Shekhar has been the Founding Director of Ojas LLC, Ayurveda Wellness Center, in Pennsylvania, USA. He is the Founder, President and Chairman of the Board of Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) (www.aapna.org). He is Founding Director of Global Ayurveda Conferences, LLC, USA. Shekhar served on the Board of Directors for National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) from 2005-2010. He has taught ayurveda courses in many prestigious universities in the United States including University of Pennsylvania (UPENN), University of Medicine & Dentistry in NJ (UMDNJ), Hershey Medical School, Jefferson Medical School, University of Penn Nursing School, and others. He was awarded the “Tathagat International Excellence Award 2011” in Dubai and received the award “Ayurveda Khandantara Sthapanacharya” Award for promoting ayurveda around the globe. Ashlesha Raut, BAMS, MDAYURVED, Illinois, USA is a Consulting Ayurvedic Practitioner and Nutritional Consultant with more than 15 years of experience in the field of ayurveda, healthcare and integrative medicine. She is a Registered Master Ayurvedic Specialist (RMAS). She earned the distinctive honor, a gold medal, for her thesis. Ashlesha completed her N.C. (Nutritional Consultant) and HHP (Holistic Health Practitioner) with high honors in the USA. She also completed her ‘Second Degree Reiki Program’ in the USA. Ashlesha has been presented with the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America award of “Charaka” in recognition of her excellence in teaching ayurveda. Presently, she is a Director of Ayurveda at “Ayurveda For Healing” and “Main Street Yoga” where she practices ayurveda and is actively involved in promoting ayurveda globally.
Dr. Priyatarssini Balamurugen
Priyatarssini Balamurugen, BAMS, MSc., DNYS, New Jersey, USA is a practitioner of ayurveda, marma, naturopathy, yoga & acupuncture and has successfully integrated all these systems in her practice for the past 15 years. She is faculty member at International University of Yoga and Ayurveda's psychology program. She presently serves as a Research Scientist at WISE (World Institute of Scientific Exploration), an organization for conducting, leading, and promoting groundbreaking scientific research and investigations in countries worldwide. She has presented papers and conducted workshops at universities like NJIT and written articles on ayurveda, ojas and conscious living. She is also a master and instructor in Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY), a scientific system of conscious living directed towards individual peace, leading to world peace, which she learnt directly from her guru, Vethathiri Maharishi over the last 20 years.
Dr. Dhanada Kulkarni
Dhanada Kulkarni, BAMS, Texas, USA is the Owner, Founder and Director of Soham Ayur Yoga and an experienced health practitioner, ayurvedic specialist, master yoga therapist, vedic astrologer and vastu consultant. She has been very active in promoting ayurveda and other ancient Indian vedic sciences at various forums in the USA over the last 9 years. She serves on the boards of several organizations including AAPNA, Kalidas Sanskrit University of Maharashtra, India. She has been honored with many international awards including Jivaka, Patanjali & Dhanwantari. Dhanada has been an international keynote speaker, presenter and integrated medicine panel expert for many organizations.
Dr. Devika Deshmukh
Devika Deshmukh, BAMS, MDAYURVED, California, USA is a second generation vaidya whose parents, Drs. Ramesh and Shubhada Deshmukh, run the renowned Kerala Ayurvedic Clinic in 3 locations in Mumbai. Her MDAYURVED research thesis was “Comparative study on the effect of nasya karma and greeva basti with ksheera bala taila in greeva hundanam with special reference to cervical spondylosis”. While working as a consultant for Kerala Ayurvedic Clinic in Mumbai, she taught Panchakarma at the University of Mumbai. She has taught Panchakarma classes to the students of Middlesex University, United Kindgom and done research presentations at ayurvedic seminars in Karnataka and in national conferences.
Dr. Sneha Kalaskar

Sneha Kalaskar, BAMS, MDAYURVED, California, USA has completed her under graduation (R. A. Podar-Mumbai) and masters (I.P.G.T. & R.A.-Jamnagar) from top most institutes of India. Her main field of work is in subject Dravyaguna i.e. Medicinal plants and their pharmacology. She completed MD-Ayurveda research thesis on Patala and its comparative phytopharmacological study with one of its substitute. Her research has been published in different international journals like Universal Journal of Pharmacy (UJP), American Journal of Pharmacy and Health Research (AJPHR) etc. She has actively held poster and oral presentations in different institutes during her education.

Andhrika Kondeti, BAMS, CMT, Virginia, USA has been practicing Ayurvedic medicine for over eighteen years. Andhrika Kondeti is a highly experienced Ayurvedic specialist trained in India. After completing a five and half year degree program, she graduated with honors and worked in several hospitals in India. Her focus was dermatology, Internal Medicine and Gynecology. Subsequently, Andhrika set up her own clinic where she improved the quality of life for numerous patients suffering from allergies, arthritis, tension headaches, migraines, sinusitis, insomnia, obesity, psoriasis, ADHD, skin disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, stress and other chronic medical conditions. After moving to US, Andhrika completed certification courses as Nutritional Consultant and Master Herbalist programs.  Andhrika graduated as a Certified Massage Therapist from the American Institute of Healing Therapies, Inc. with honors. Meenakshi Gupta, Texas, USA an Ayurveda Vaidya, trainer and teacher of international repute, pursued her MD-Ayurveda from The National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, India. She is a gold medalist and a highly accomplished ayurveda and panchakarma specialist. She has been practicing ayurveda for the last 18 years. Her expertise includes ayurveda, panchakarma, diet, lifestyle recommendations and ayurveda wellness education. She integrates ayurveda principles with ayurvedic diet and lifestyles in her daily practice. She has done 3 years of intense clinical research on ayurvedic herbs in enuresis & more than 6 years of research on ADHD and learning disabilities in children. Her research experience includes literacy research as well as clinical trials with ayurvedic herbs on enuresis,. She has more than 15 years of extensive international experience in design & delivery of ayurveda courses as Ayurveda Cosmetology, Ayurveda Herbology, Medical Yoga, and Panchakarma Therapy. Gauri Junnarkar, BAMS, MS, RD, LD, CDE, RAAP, Texas, USA is the founder of ‘Ayurnutrition’, an integrative nutrition practice. She is an Ayurveda Specialist and a Registered/Licensed Dietitian. She earned her BAMS Bachelor of Ayurveda degree from the University of Mumbai. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University. Her expertise includes Ayurveda, Panchakarma, Nutrition and Diabetes education. She integrates Ayurveda principles with Nutrition in her daily practice. Ms. Junnarkar teaches nutrition courses to undergraduate students and works as a Certified Diabetes Educator at diabetes center in Dallas Fort Worth area. Ms.Junnarkar’s background in Ayurveda inspired her to do her master’s thesis research on “Dietary Curcumin (phytochemical in Turmeric) and its effect in Melanoma (skin cancer)”, which was selected at the national conference on Experimental Biology under “Diet and Cancer” and also at the Texas Dietetic Association conference. Ms. Junnarkar has given a number of presentations on Ayurveda to faculty and students at Texas Woman’s University and various dietitian associations in Dallas. She is a faculty member at International University of Yoga and Ayurveda. Ms. Junnarkar is a committee member for AAPNA (Ayurvedic Professionals of North America). She also writes articles on Ayurveda and nutrition.
Samina Ahmad, MBBS, ALC, RAP, AFNC, New York, graduate of the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan with a Medical Doctor degree, she began her medical career as an Internal Medicine Physician in the Senior Gastroenterology Department . Later she accepted an appointment with the National Institute of Child Health.Thereafter, she started her own practice – Family Practice Health Care Clinic for Women and Children. Comparable to a Martha Stewart of Pakistan, for many years, Dr. Ahmad hosted television programs on healthful cooking, family issues and nutrition. She has graduated as a Health Counselor and qualified for national certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.  She also received a certificate of completion for educational outreach from the Teachers College of Columbia University. Dr. Samina is a Chopra University certified Perfect Health Consultant and Ayurvedic Lifestyle Coach and runs her Wellness Center called ”Samina’s Wellness” in New York. She recently graduated as an Ayurvedic Practitioner from Amrit Yoga Institute and received her Associate in Ayurvedic Science degree from IUYA [International University of Yoga and Ayurveda ] she also received certifications from Green’s Ayurveda in Panchakarma Therapy and Massage, in Ayurvedic Nutrition & Cooking and Ayurvedic Advanced studies. Sushma Jakkula, BAMS, LMT, Florida, USA is the president and founder of Ojas Ayurveda in Tampa. She provides Ayurvedic consultations and Panchkarma therapies. She organizes regular workshops on various topics of Ayurveda. She has a bachelor’s Degree in Ayurvedic medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from India. She graduated in 2002 from NTR University of Health Sciences and has been practicing since then.
